Arc System Work's signature cel shaded anime fighter is back in this upgraded release based on Japanese arcade machine roots; not only does Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- feature graphical upgrades and gameplay tweaks based on fan feedback, there are now 20+ fighters in the roster as well as modes galore! LET'S ROCK...AGAIN!?
At 60 frames per second, there's been a lot of polish done on the graphical aspect of game that already looks beautiful. For those new to Guilty Gear, one of the most outstanding aspects is how the game transitions between on-screen mayhem to it's finishing move cutscenes, and everything inbetween.
For modes, there's the regular Story Mode and Episode mode - the latter features the story told from teh arcade version of the game; for beginners there's tutorial and practice modes and M.O.M. mode, a hardcore challenge for returning veterans. However, while this is all single player, the meat in Guilty Gear is definitely in it's online VS offering, and this is where it gets interesting.
Rare for console games, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- has PS4/PS3 system compatible battles, and there is a new lobby where players can setup matches, spectate, and even train while waiting for your match. What makes this mode stand out is that the lobby mode is set up like an arcade with cabinet machines, bringing in a nice sense of community for fighting fans to gather and duke it out. As well, in this lobby, there's even a fishing pond; gamers can use this mechanic to acquire custom parts and emotes for their avatar, or even new player colors!
