Story

In the secluded village of Tamasato, a lone tunnel is the only connection to the outside world. Yuuto spends his days drawing vivid images of a mermaid dwelling in the unlit depths of the ocean. One fateful day, while sketching, a mysterious girl appears before him, mirroring the mermaid from his artwork. She introduces herself as Ai, a “sinner” who has come to the village seeking repentance. Welcomed by Yuuto and the villagers, Ai begins her life in this quiet community.

As spring unfolds, the entrance ceremony at school marks a time of joy for families as they capture precious moments. For Yuuto, however, it’s a stark reminder of his solitude. Having lost his father and been abandoned by his mother and older sister, Yuuto now mourns the passing of his grandmother, the last of his close relatives.

Touched by Yuuto’s sadness, Ai reveals that she too was abandoned by her parents. While Yuuto seeks solace in his imaginative art, Ai grapples with her search for purpose. Despite their contrasting natures, their shared pain fosters a bond between them. As they grow closer, their connection deepens, though each carries secrets that weigh heavily on their hearts.
